Saturday Night

So, a couple weeks ago I decided to invite some of my close friends over (all of them have kids) I invited 5 families - 4 families of 4 and one family of 5. The family of five had other plans and told me so right away. The four families of four were all available and looking forward to getting together. So, starting from last week I began to prepare. If all 4 families showed up, added to my family that would be 20 people. Wow it dawned on me we were having a party and I had to prepare. Well long story short, I ended up with 4 guests. Three of the four families ended up with 1 or more sick children (that is January in Ohio my friends). The fourth family was in it all the way right up until 10 minutes before they were to arrive. One of the families who had a sick daughter, also had a family crisis on top of it. I felt like my planning a get together was somehow unlucky to all of my friends. Anyway I ended up with 4 people, a mom and daughter from one family and a son and father from another. It was still nice to have some people over, and the four kids played pretty nice and had a good time. I just felt a little disappointed, because I don't even try to do this often, and it wasn't at all what I expected. Meanwhile and worse, all of my friends are dealing with sick kids at a minimum, and worse various family problems which I am grateful we don't have right now.

Anyway something very strange is happening right now. My husband took the girls out to run 4 or 5 errands. I am home alone (with the dogs- who we call 'tho guy') and tho guy are totally quiet and sleepy and cute right now. I have some laundry washing, and a load to fold, but otherwise I am going to take it easy today. A day of rest. I'm glad my house is fairly clean. One of my kids is developing a nasty cough. I am already wondering if she will be able to go to school on Tuesday.

As for my shameless plugging of Luke's blog, interestingly I got many new foreign hits since then. Apparently if you add the name Monica Belucci to your blog, your hits will double immediately, and since I said Luke had a hot pic of her, I cannot wait to go over to Luke's blog and check out his map! Speaking of Luke I am fairly confident that he had zero fun at my house. He was on the phone half the time, and when he left he made a comment about his plans for the night and I could just tell we had put him in a real shit mood. Maybe it's better not to have get togethers. But really what the hell do you do in NE Ohio in the dead of winter? I don't know but today I'm going to read and snuggle with Tho Guy.

What are you talking about?! I think 1/2 the time is a bit of an exaggeration. I was trying to get things going for the evening. It was a bad idea in the first place planning going out, but I wanted to see my buddy Shirring and I'm really glad they decided to meet in Mentor. I don't know if I'll be able to see him next time he comes up here before he moves to North Carolina.

Sorry Shirring, Luke told me about that on Thursday, which was a) short notice and b) not gonna happen since I had been working my ass off for several days for all these people who were coming over. I told him I'd be too tired, and I was right. Maybe next time.

I'm going to call BS on the short notice. I understand the other though. You should have seen everyone yawning their heads off there.

If you haven't noticed, I'm not real 'spur of the moment' on the going out.

Oh, I've seen you go out on spur of the moment before. Although I wouldn't say over 48 hours is very 'spur of the moment'.

What is spur of the moment to a dad and a mom is different, especially when it comes to me. I am with my kids almost every moment that I am not at work. Not since C has been born have I been able to just go somewhere, without making arrangements or plans. When have you seen me out drinking on a Saturday with out advance planning?? I know that you can go and do as you please, because your wife is with the kids, but I don't have the same arrangement.
