The weekend

I can't belive it's almost over! Jeez. Well I colored and hilighted my hair on Friday night, it was nice to have all that time for Mary :)
I took my girls to ballet on Saturday (because they are in two different age groups, I spend 3 hrs there every weekend). Then we had a play date which was once again cancelled at the last minute (as is usually the case with the family in question). So I took my kids anyway to lunch at a fast food place with a kids room in it. I did this because I had already told them, and because when we left home in the moring, our power (and heat) had been out for an hour already, and I didn't know if we'd be restored. Luckily I ran into a man I work with and he had just been at a park near my house and told me they got power back (what luck).
Kids took a long nap after that and I (how'd you guess) cleaned. For all the cleaning I do you'd think my house was immaculate, think again! Anyway I did tons of laundry and I used my carpet cleaner upstair (as mox had decided to urinate on the landing, so I just did the whole landing). I made some cupcakes after that and took them over to Luke's. My kids played with his last night. It was fun. Today has been mostly all work and very little play, but I'm about to suit up the kids for bicycle riding in Daddy's pole barn (which we are now calling 'the shop').
I don't want to go to work this week, but as I've said the stress seems to be subsiding, which does nothing to explain the TMJ trouble I am having again. I clench my jaw tightly when I'm sleeping and then I have pain while awake. It's not nearly as bad as it was about 15 years ago, when I had a bite-gaurd I had to wear to bed. I do feel I could be back to that soon though. And I'm not even sure where all that new tension is coming from. Maybe it just spread from my right shoulder and neck.
My brother called yesterday and I haven't had the time to call him back yet. I need to tell him though that I ran into a chic he used to go to school with. She remembered him immediately (but who would ever forget Glenn?)
Probably not much blogging for me this week, I have customers at work :(

Holy comment, Glenn!

People will talk right to you about their views on gay marriage? I mean if I were against it(I'm not), I don't think I'd have enough balls to try to convince a gay person it's not right.

Glenn, you should get involved with Drum Corps. It's an activity that raised my awareness and exposed me to an enormous amount of uncensored homosexuality. Gays are appreciated and so powerful inthe activity that sexual preference or uneasiness is thrown through the window and not mentioned ever. I enjoy it thoroughly and wish the rest of society could funtion this way. It seems to fit the drum corps persona though, a separate entity complete astranged from reality. A two month stint when everyone can forget who they are, their outside responsibilities, anger, government and just get down to the business of rehearsing the show. I loved those years and strive to spread that mentality throughout my travels and encounters. Just know, Glenn, that there are good people out there who don't classify you as gay friends or straight friends. At least in my case you are a blog friend. To many people you know, I bet you're the fat funny friend. Just kidding. Probablly just the funny friend who sounds really smart.

Goodluck Glenn, I'm sure it's struggle I'll never be able to relate to.

Garry and I would be totally fine with a gay child. Nobody hopes that their kid is going to have to struggle in ways, but our feelings for them wouldn't change in the least.

Garry definitely wouldn't go see that movie, but I don't think he's the homophobe you might think. He likes you and he has a live and let live attitude.

And not that it's the same thing, but everyone on earth has something different about them(maybe not everyone) and society seems to want to normalize people, but that's changing.

Try not to be down in the dumps. And also, having a meaningful discussion with anyone about something they can't relate well to is tough, keep that in mind. If Garry tried to relate a Drag Racing story to you, it would be tough for you to really 'get' what he was saying. So don't take things so hard.

Drum Corps is pretty awesome. It's considered by some to be marching band on steriods. Plainly, it's marching pagentry. A show is designed with music and a general visual is created that can be expressed through the use of the music, drill design, possibly props, and the use of the color guard with their flags, dance, and sabre movements. here is the official website: www.dci.org DCI stands for Drum Corps International. The perform the show all over the world. I've been to 38 states and six different countries as a result of this from only two years of marching. You can only be 21 or younger to perform, so the activity stays very young and powerful. Most staff is older though and very experienced. It was the best thing I ever did. Learned so much about life.

Glenn, don't sweat it, I didn't think you were being rude about anything. I get what you are saying about how it still seems like such a big deal if someone is gay, but really, times are changing. And yes, it is going to take longer for that to spread to our less educated areas of the country (world).

Glenn,
I see what you mean. I think when the time comes that Gray and his Mom should talk about it. Do what his mom wants bc she is old? I don't know.
Speaking of which I ran into Kelly Ross from MHS. She asked about you, and oddly I always wonder what I am supposed to tell people (people who mean nothing to us anyway) when they ask me "is he married?"
I'm not embarassed at all to say, "My brother is gay, he and his partner live together in Mass"
But I'm never sure what you would want me to say... Is that weird?
I just said,"No"

Glenn, I'm going to stereotype a bit here, but most of the gay people on the activity aren't affiliated much with music. Typically they are in the color guard. They are responsible for created the visual "mood" of the music. They use body movememnts (dance) and they spin a variety of equipment like flags, sabres and rifles. It's fun.

It's funny, but Glenn doesn't fit any stereotype. Well, he is very sensitive. But he's just such an individual. Right now I'm picturing Glenn in the flag corp. Ha ha ha ha.Sorry Glenn.
So Glenn, you remember Kelly then? Name sounded familiar. Her brother Tom was in my class. At first that didn't ring any bells, but now I remember him. Sat in fron of me in Kindsvatter's class. Ross, Rowe.

NO no, I when say stereotyping, I didn't mean Glenn at all. Just that all people usually homosexual in a drum corps are typically in the color guard. I have seen some super butch guys in the guard. It creates a very powerful and agressive form. There is always a wide range of flaming - butch people.
