In Memory of my Dear Sweet Doggie

This weekend on our date, we got a little bit misty eyes (okay a lot in my case). We went out on the 12th which is the date that the greatest dog ever was born. She lived from November 12, 1993 (was my first Christmas present from my husband - then live-in-boyfriend) until April 3rd 2004. Her life was cut short by cancer. The decsion to help her leave this world without further suffering was difficult. When it was all said and done, I only hoped we hadn't waited too long. Our two current labs are her nephew Angus and her Niece Moxie who are both the pups of her younger brother Buster. They are both turning out to be wonderful pets. You might have noticed the decrease in Dog-Blogging over here. But when we got Chelsie, I had nothing going on in my spare time. No kids. She was my baby and my best friend. I taught her how to sit, stay, high-five, roll over, speak, give kisses, play dead (when shot with my finger-gun), jump over my back if i got down on all fours. She was a master of fetch, and a mind reader. She was a shoulder to cry on, and a bed warmer. I can't imagine any dog will ever be so much a part of me as she was because once you have children (human ones) everything changes forever. Anyway, here she is when she was very young and healthy. We love you Chelsie and will never forget you.

I'll never forget when I met her when we went back to your house to play pool after that game of paintball. I miss my Dixie, too.

I'm back baby. Well, I'm not actually. I'm still in Florida, but we stopped at a UPS place that had net access.

I remember when I we had to put my cat down. I'd had her from 18 months old til I was 19. It was the strangest thing not having her around.

I love the two cats I got now though. Meri and Pippin. They're more like people than some people I know.

I just wanted to check in and say hi. I'm back home on Friday so I'll hopefully be posting a lil something then. Stay beautiful.

Its always hard to let someone go, even if they are an animal. But we still have our memories.

Looks like a fine dog. Really.

We had our dog from 1981 to 1995. He was very ill towards the end and we had made the decision to take him to vet on the Monday to be put to sleep. He died on the Sunday, the day before. To this day I believe that he decided when he was going to leave and stuck a metaphorical two fingers up at the world for thinking that they were going to decide for him. Cantankerous to the end.

RIP Patch. They broke the mould when you were born.

Sniff, Pynchon that is very touching. What did Patch look like? How big and all that?

Hi Pepsiqueen.

Patch was a border collie. Not very big, but big of heart. You know what I mean?

He also liked cheese. Very bad.

Border Collies are super smart. Cool dogs.

I had a very large yellow lab years ago, Nitro. He liked bread so much that he stole it right off the countertop (a whole new loaf) and made off with it. He ate half before I found him. Also, he stole a gingerbread mand that I thought was out of reach. Spilled a dish of chocolate candy in the process. He didn't touch the chocolates (I put them back in the dish just to check the quantity and the dish was full?) But he ate the gingerbread. Funny dog. He used to do some undecorating of the Christmas tree too while we were at work. He was a big lover. Loved to lie on you or rest his huge head in your lap. He died at age 6 (it was horrible). He was Chelsie's buddy. He's been gone since '99.
