It was the Best Bird Ev Er!

Spotted one of these guys on my bird feeder Sunday...
If you haven't seen one than look at this picture and keep in mind that he is as big as a crow, with a minimum 27" wingspan!! Totally prehistoric looking. I only saw one once before which was last June. My husband and I were doing so volunteer work (splitting logs) at a boyscout camp and when we took a break, I saw one high in a tree. This was more exciting because he was right in my own backyard, and fairly close to the house. You could really appreciate his size. This isn't the pic of mine, but my husband did snap a few. Haven't seen those yet.
Otherwise things are good. My little one is just getting over pneumonia, and I am getting over asthmatic bronchitis. I felt really good that I got both my kids to the age of 4.5 before they ever had the need of antibiotics. (Each has only taken them once). That is really quite amazing based on how many ear infections and such many kids get (we had tons when I was a kid, did mom's smoking play a role?). But I credit breastfeeding for making them so healthy. And really it could just be dumb luck, but given the number of infections we had as kids, I don't think it is heredity that guarded them.
It snowed about 3+" at my house from yesterday evening through this morning. That stinks, however, I do like wearing sweaters and boots. Still I hope I can store them after this week. I am a little sick of winter.
I have decided I want to work for Google.com. I love that business, they seem so funny, so creative and free. Everything that this place isn't. I would think that many of their employees telecommute (or whatever the word for work from home is). You would think they employ people to check links and do some surfing for them no? I should look into that. My other choice would be Chipotle, but not in the actual restaurant. I love their corporate identity, I love their emails, their choices in music, the funny things they print on their cups, and even their clean, good smelling restrooms. I get a warm fuzzy feeling about places that pay that kind of attention to detail, but don't take themselves too seriously. Plus if I worked in an office for them, I could bring my doggies to work!
Ok... gotta get to work...

If you leave, who's going to do the graphics?!
I'm not actually going to DO anyting.... You know me, I'm basically all talk, especially when it comes to finding a new job. Ha ha, although I did work at Friday's for 5 mos...
I thought that woodpecker was a regular in your yard. Maybe I was thinking of the hairy/downy type?
We have Hairy, Downy, Red Bellied all the time. We've had several visits from the Northern Flicker but that is somewhat rare. This guy I've never seen in my yard before. I think you are thinking of the Flicker, which is also large and very cool (althought not as large or cool as the pileated).
Yes, I've had the flicker before. I have pictures of my vistors on my blog somewhere. But I was thinking of a woodpecker. Ok, a bird that has 'woodpecker' in it's name.
Yawn...
Sorry about that "Yawn" comment. I'm just lame.
