Sledding
Went sledding this weekend. I was very glad that I made time for it. We found a cool place to go, just about the right thrill rating for kids the age of mine.
You walked up about 2 flights of very gradual stairs made of railroad ties and gravel and then you had about maybe 100-150' of hill top to choose from. It was a fairly fast hill but not too scary. Everyone was having fun, although many parents seem somewhat oblivious to the danger. It w
as so crowded that there were many collisions at the bottom of the hill. Some were letting preschoolers sled alone, and those guys don't move quicly in a panic, in a snowsuit. They didn't know to get up and move out of the way as soon as they stopped. Someone needed an ambulance although I didn't see what had happened.
One girl around 10 years old was so overweight she was having tremendous difficulty getting back to the top of the hill. She told us to go around her on the stairs. That made me sad, I'm not exactly the picture of fitness, and I'm quite a bit older than she, and I didn't have any difficulty (aside from being too warm and very sweaty).
You never know how many times you are going to get a warm (above 30deg) winter day on a weekend when there is snow on the ground. You couldn't ask for a better day to sled.

Hey yeah, we took the tube out. That picture is someone else's kid that I just found online. We brought the tube and some cheapy plastic sleds. We didn't take any action photos though.
Happy Birthday!
