Stage Fright

I dreamt last night that I was putting on a performance. It was for a large audience. The person organizing the show was my daughters' dance instructor (who I really like).
What kind of show was it?
Well that is where the dream gets embarrassing. If you were a little girl in the 70's you may have been obsessed with Barbie dolls. Well there was a toy that was just an almost life size Barbie Doll head. The purpose of this toy was so that you could put makeup on her and style her blonde hair however you wanted. She came with some makeup and hair accessories. I couldn't find a picture like the one I had, but this is a modern version of her. They have changed her bit so that her shoulders no longer sit in a tray where her cosmetics are kept.
Oh yes, so my act was to sing (keroke style, or lipsinc, not exactly sure which) Rick Springfield music whilst bobbing a Rick Springfield Fashion head in front of the audience (who wouldn't pay to see this?). But there was the need for much preparation beforehand. First I was to restyle this 80's relic toy from Rick's earlier 'do' to a the more modern look he has today. Also I had to find a shirt to put over his pink, traylike shoulders, and also practice my 'singing' and get the order of the music straight and figure out how to pull this off.

(rick then) (rick now)

Well true to my nature, I didn't do anything to prepare until the day of. I found a black t-shirt in my hubby's stuff and put it on the 'head' and I didn't bother to update poor Rick's look. I also did not practice or get the music thing worked out much. So fast forward to the show. People are there screaming and awaiting this show. I am on stage, freaking out because I don't know which track is the song "I Get Excited" (which if you are collecting Mary trivia is my favorite of his songs). So I keep advancing the player to the next track, hearing that it isn't the right song and moving on IN FRONT OF A LIVE AUDIENCE!! As you might've guessed I was booed off the stage. Not only that but someone actually sicked their two small dogs on me. I used my advanced understanding of dog body language (as it pertains to show of dominance) to scare them off. I was in tears. At the end of the dream I was talking with the dance instructor. I was apologizing for my miserable failure and she was consoling me and telling me that they put on a show after I left and that everyone was happy.

Wildlife sitings this week in my backyard...

Had visits from all of these guys this week. First time I've seen any of them this year. I feel like my friends are back. Except for the fox, that's only the 2nd time I have ever seen one on our property. These are; a red fox, a rubythroated hummingbird, a rose-breasted grosbeak, and a gray catbird.

I saw Rick on TV the other day.... he hasn't age one bit - amazing.

I've been on the lookout for my neighbourhood fox, but haven't seen him. I think he's left his den due to all the new housing going up near there.

You said you were on the lookout for new books to read. I recently read Barbara Kingsolver's "Prodigal Summer" and was excellent.

Okay...um...weird. But made for a giggle to read. Lets face it, that would make great TV. Folk sing along to veteran singers like Tom Jones and the Stones all the while trying to update a replica heads hairdo. See if Fox need something to fil their 8-9 slot.

You know who would do it? George Hamilton (although he's too wrinkly) but I love how he pokes fun at himself on some commercial where he says,'he knows about toasty' bc he is always way too tan!
