Witch Which

I did not sleep soundly at all last night. Maybe it was because I napped in the afternoon. Maybe I had too much Dunkin’ Donuts coffee Sunday morning. I am very very tired. Why do I seem to start my week this way so very often?

Well apparently one of my 6 yr old’s “friends” said to her “Your mom looks like a witch.” That’s nice. Especially because practically everyday some stranger tells her how much she looks like me. Now I don’t know what this little girl’s idea of a witch is. Did she mean this kind?:

Or maybe this?:

Or if I’m really lucky this is what she thinks a witch looks like:
Anyway I guess my four year old heard me repeating this comment either to my husband or a girlfriend on the phone. At the dinner table last night she said to me with all the sweetness in the world, “Even if you don’t look so good, you are still the best Mommy in the whole world.” Her intention of course was to make me feel better. Very sweet, but these kids are giving me a complex! If I had a hooked nose, a long chin, or even one wart, I’d at least know why this little girl thinks I look like a witch. Really there is only one 1st grader in the world whose opinion of me really matters. But still I hope she wasn’t hurt by this kid’s remark. Were kids so mean when I was in school? Either no, or yes but I blocked all that out. I thought it started more in the 6th grade back then.

Blogger Ficker Beer

Warning, if you are feeling sleepy already, STOP READING NOW and do your homework!!

Something nuts about blogger, I hadn't been able to upload photos. The reason was that the toolbar that is supposed to be there when you post (allows txt formatting, links, photo uploads) was MIA. Anyway, the group help page told me to hold Ctrl while refreshing the Create a Post page and that did the trick. Also allowed me to see current posts on my friends' blogs and I saw that I must've had cached pages and wasn't getting the new stuff, even with a normal refresh!! Stupid. Also, if you had an old blog, updated to the google kind and now want to delete the blogger kind, GOOD LUCK!! If you view the group forum you will see that everyone is in the same boat.

This weekend we saw a Northern Flicker at our suet feeder. We'd seen these only a few times before, drilling for ants in the mulch. They are quite spectacular birds and I'll never forget my first sighting. I love that they like the suet and are becoming a more common site.

I was supposed to meet a friend for lunch, I had some hand-me-downs for her kids. Anyway one of them got sick (barfing) and she didn't make it. Nonetheless I had a bowl of chili and a beer. For some reason, beer has never tasted better.

Also I got an awesome chair massage today. I wish I could learn to let go of this shoulder tension. I've got enormous Trapezius muscles, only because I flex and hold them all day and all night. What is wrong with me??

Easter Brunch

I had a really good weekend. Friday wasn’t so great, I went to the grocery store at 10:00 and drove home with 20’ visibility and horrible roads. On Sat I took the kids to Dunkin’ Donuts before dance class so I could by some of their ground coffee, which is awesome, for Easter brunch which I was hosting. After Dance we dropped off overdue books, and then I came back home and cleaned until midnight. The house really needed it and I love having things tidied up.

Sunday the kids got up by about 7:20 or so. They hunted their baskets and eggs, then we had some leisure time, then it was time to get cracking again. We had my in laws over for brunch. I was getting worried that nobody would make it to our house since we got over 2 feet of snow. But thankfully, my mother and sister in law showed up right on time as usual. We had a baked French toast, a Quiche Lorraine, some fresh fruit, muffins, deviled eggs, Dunkin’ Donuts coffee. It was great. The kids got tons of stuff for Easter and they were especially sweet all weekend.

Then a nap. Aaaahhhhhh. Next we went to my moms for dinner which was Prime Rib, one of my favs. I don’t know why on earth I was still awake at 11:00, but I am tired today. It was worth it though. It was one of the most relaxing enjoyable holidays I have had in a while.

Today when I asked my older daughter if I had told her that her aunt really liked the birthday gifts we had given her she said, “Like a hundred times”. I hid my laughter, since that was pretty rude, but I still thought it was funny because I know I repeat myself a lot. But I was really glad my sister liked the music I bought her…

Yes, I know my blog is boring, but my life is actually quite fulfilling.

It was the Best Bird Ev Er!

Spotted one of these guys on my bird feeder Sunday...
If you haven't seen one than look at this picture and keep in mind that he is as big as a crow, with a minimum 27" wingspan!! Totally prehistoric looking. I only saw one once before which was last June. My husband and I were doing so volunteer work (splitting logs) at a boyscout camp and when we took a break, I saw one high in a tree. This was more exciting because he was right in my own backyard, and fairly close to the house. You could really appreciate his size. This isn't the pic of mine, but my husband did snap a few. Haven't seen those yet.
Otherwise things are good. My little one is just getting over pneumonia, and I am getting over asthmatic bronchitis. I felt really good that I got both my kids to the age of 4.5 before they ever had the need of antibiotics. (Each has only taken them once). That is really quite amazing based on how many ear infections and such many kids get (we had tons when I was a kid, did mom's smoking play a role?). But I credit breastfeeding for making them so healthy. And really it could just be dumb luck, but given the number of infections we had as kids, I don't think it is heredity that guarded them.

It snowed about 3+" at my house from yesterday evening through this morning. That stinks, however, I do like wearing sweaters and boots. Still I hope I can store them after this week. I am a little sick of winter.

I have decided I want to work for Google.com. I love that business, they seem so funny, so creative and free. Everything that this place isn't. I would think that many of their employees telecommute (or whatever the word for work from home is). You would think they employ people to check links and do some surfing for them no? I should look into that. My other choice would be Chipotle, but not in the actual restaurant. I love their corporate identity, I love their emails, their choices in music, the funny things they print on their cups, and even their clean, good smelling restrooms. I get a warm fuzzy feeling about places that pay that kind of attention to detail, but don't take themselves too seriously. Plus if I worked in an office for them, I could bring my doggies to work!
Ok... gotta get to work...
