Time Honored Traditions

So, I am hosting a party for my daughter's Kindergarten class for Halloween (or Fall Harvest as the politically correct would say). So I called her teacher to plan and was told that we had wheat, egg and peanut allergies to work around! So much for brownies. So I settled on Rice Krispie treats. It will be great, I thought. I will cut them with a Pumpkin cookie cutter, frost little happy Pumpkin faces on them. The kids will love it. Well, Martha Stewart I'm not. My husband laughed at the treats, calling them Halloween Ovals. Yes, the time honored tradtion of the Halloween Oval! The problem is that with the coarseness of the krispie treat, you lose the little details of the stem and the ridges in the pumpkins. Oh well, and as for the faces, I felt so deafeated by the shape, that I put some orange and black sprinkles on them and called it a night. It was a fun night too, as the kids watched the Peanuts special and I cranked out Krispie Treats like a madwoman. They taste really good, that's what matters right?
I've had some successes with creative treats in the past, but my lack of planning and procrastination sometimes does me in. Here's a treat I made for the department 'goodie day' last year.
And here is another one of some cookies I made last year (try to ignore the lack of makeup or hairstyle in this one). By the way the cookies looked fabulous and tasted pretty iffy, the pinecone however was delicious, It was a spicy cheeseball with almond coating. The cookie centers are made with crushed life savers which melt and form the 'glass'. Pretty crafty huh?
Okay so does anyone have a clue what happened to Tom? I need to get to work, maybe I'll blog again soon.

Well, as you know, I'm not a patient person. It's been three days, hasn't it? I think that qualifies for some Missing Person's action, so I've sent him an e-mail on an old address he used to send me a sidebar for my blog. Hopefully he'll get that. If I hear anything, it will be posted...

all that matters is if the kids had fun

I have a recipe book and it shows you how to make shapes with rice as a fancy side dish and it never works for me
so I can imagine rice crispie treats...

dang allergies...
here you can buy rice flour (flour made from rice instead of wheat)
but dont ask me how to prepare it
cornflour can be used to sometimes but no eggs that is a tough one

there is a ayurveda book with a recipe for butterscotch type brownies and I dont think eggs or wheat flour is in it I will have to ask
I know that there is one Asian nationality dont remeb which from a lady she was in my german class and said her people do have allergeries against eggs

maybe find out I am sure they probally have recipe for sweets without eggs and such

I will do some research for you I know its too late now but you might want it for later info in case you are in that situ again

No pumkin. I have no occasion to make it for, I'd have to buy a new cake pan (only have $28 in my checking right now so... ) shit I can't even afford the ingredients.

First of all, myself and my work mate, Owen have concluded that you're a damn fine looking women.

Rice Krispie treats rule! Ain't nothing that can beat those bad boys. Hope that party goes well.

I cooked for Steph last night. Scrath made sauce for Spaghetti Bolagnase and everything. :)

Well Phil Thank you so much for the compliment. If you concluded that in spite of my cookie picture I guess I have to be truly flattered indeed. Thank Owen for me if he isn't one of my damn few loyal readers. So you think I should keep posting pictures then?
The party is in less than an hour. I don't know why I get involved in these things, I get to stressed. Yeah the Krispie treats are pretty good.
Hey Phil, you blog with The Bad-Wolf right? What the hell happened.
Is Steph a girlfriend? I find that men do these things up until the move in (live in) or marriage. Just my experience :)

I like the cookie pic, goes to show women-folk can still look pleasing without the make-up. :)

I wish I knew where Bad Wolf had gone, I've been trying to find out. One day he was there, the next he wasn't.

I get stressed when my company asks me to commit fraud. Long story.

No, never had a pic. May well do though. No reason not to I guess.

Yeah, Steph is my girlfriend. She knows about my blog, but is quite happy to leave that part of my life well alone. But if I'm ever in Ohio... ;)
