A Very Merry Christmas
Well, it is over, whew.
As all Holidays, this one had it's share of stress, but it was also very nice.
I kicked it off last Thursday with a 90 minute massage and a haircut/hand massage/makeup touch up. Normally I don't pamper myself quite this much, but thanks to my Brother-in-law's generosity, I make a few trips to the spa each year. The massage was the best I've ever had. The man who gave it is known for giving a very strong massage, I loved it. My hair came out great too (at least I think so). My brother was in town for a full week, which was really nice. He was nice enough to come over when the Internet guy came to the house so I wouldn't be home alone with my kids. Also, he was at the awkward gatherings for my mother and father's sides of the family, which made it less awkward for me since my brother is a pro at keeping the conversation afloat.
My Brother-in-law came in on the 23rd. It's been nice having him there, the kids love having company and they get along well with him. The only real downside is that the kids are bunking together which often makes them tired/crabby. But it's worth it, this is the stuff childhood memories are made of.
My husband is a sweetheart. He made this holiday really special. When we were up late on Christmas Eve doing final preparations (and having some wine) and he told me what a great mom I am, I almost cried. It's important to get that validation.
Even though the holiday is over, there is still a lot coming up. Tonight my Bil's girlfriend comes to town and meets us all for the first time, at a nice restaurant, and then hopefully they will come to our house for drinks. Friday we have plans in the evening with the kids (I'm really really looking forward to that). And Saturday one of my best friends for the past 28 years is getting married. I'm excited about this, my kids are so excited (their first wedding). Plus I have a beautiful gown to wear thanks to my very generous Sister-in-Law who lent me one, complete with earings, and a gorgeous vintage looking beaded purse (and the whole outfit is one of my best colors, brown). So the whirlwind continues.
I hope everyone had a good Christmas!
