Funny Things

My five year old daughter is pretty free-spirited and funny. Recently my 7 yr old was arguing with me about halloween candy. This escalated and cost her her bedtime story (because she was backtalking and having a fit). I knew she was just tired, but I was still pretty angry. The girls were supposed to be brushing teeth and getting ready for bed, but I could hear them talking. The older one sobbed about how unfair I was being, my little one answered,"Yeah, I mean like, she is such a total Drama Queen, she never lets us have what we want." Sometimes it's so hard not to laugh. The next morning I asked her what a Drama Queen is. She replied,"Um, is it someone who is really bossy?" I love it.

A few days ago, while hauling both kids home on a weekday night, my older daughter and I were singing. The little one didn't like it. We stopped and then started again with another one. Then I hear in an angry tone,"You guys better stop that singing right now because I do not want that earwax taste on my fingers again!!"

My brother in law is coming to stay for a few days. The girls are happy about that, they'll be happy to see him, but they also get to sleep together for a few nights. They love it but I don't because they are so busy goofing around they don't get much sleep. At least it is a four day weekend and we can make up for it somehow. I can't wait for the long weekend. I have a few parties to go to also and so that should be fun.

Best Beauty Buy Ever!!!

I'm a big fan of teasing hair. I do this just to give some lift and volume at the roots. I have thick heavy hair which pulls itself down leaving me too flat at the top. So when I'm 'going out' or otherwise trying to look good, wheather curly or straight, I do some teasing or ratting at the top.
I was driving (as I do so often) and it occured to me that my mother used to own something she called a rattail comb. It's sole purpose was to help tease (teasing of course was a must for many 50's 60's and 70's dos, most notably the beehive. This reminds me of an old Phyllis Diller joke,"I was teasing my hair last night, and it BIT ME!" But I digress... I wondered if they still make these combs, and if they really make teasing easier (I normally back comb with a brush or a pic).
I was at Giant Eagle last night and I found one. It was only $2 so I figured I'd give it a shot. Today I have total super-model hair.

Stuff

I'm bored at work for the first time in a long time.
My five year old saw a long white car this morning while we were driving and she told me she thought it was a limbo. But then she said lim lim, like she knew it wasn't quite right but wasn't sure what came after the lim.
Halloween was awesome. Room parties for both kids and trick-or-treating on a warmish windy night. People were all friendly, and the kids had a blast. My little one chimed in with "This is my best Halloween ever!" She's been known to overuse that phrase, but it still makes me happy to hear it. My sever year old said to me as I was leaving her room last night,"Mommy, thanks for the great day" *sigh* makes it all worthwhile... I love those guys.
Daddy and I went to an adults only costume party this weekend. It was fun. Reminded me of our old bar nights where I would be hanging out with people who didn't know me but were suddenly my new best friends. We stayed out way too late, and Sunday was rough (pumpkin carving taking up way more time than I anticipated). But it was all good.
I've returned to Jazzercise. I'm very very happy about it. I love it and having something that is scheduled and away from my kids is really the only way I will make time for myself and make the most of that time. I've noticed that even my coordination has slipped a little in the 2 years or so that I've been away from it. I'll bet back there though...
Yesterday Chipotle gave free lunch to anyone dressed in tin foil. I couldn't go because I was not near a Chipotle and I was busy. But now I keep thinking aboug yummy burritos...
